John Timothy Weigel (March 4, 1945 – June 17, 2001), known professionally as Tim Weigel, was a Chicago broadcaster who spent most of his career as a television sports anchor and reporter. Weigel grew up in Gurnee, Illinois, north of Chicago.

Weigel began his thirty year career at the Chicago Daily News in 1971. He moved to the Chicago Sun Times when the News folded in 1978. After reporting for both WLS-TV and WMAQ-TV, as well as WLUP and WMAQ radio, he was named Sports Director at WBBM-TV in 1995.

CHICAGO (AP) – Longtime Chicago sportscaster Tim Weigel died Sunday morning at his home in Evanston, Ill. He was 56. Weigel died at 5:20 a.m. Sunday, his son, Rafer Weigel, said.
