WASHINGTON − President Donald Trump denied reports he had reached out to Tehran seeking an end to the five-day Iran-Israel air war, after earlier suggesting he was working toward a broad Iran nuclear deal.

President Donald Trump said overnight Tuesday he’s seeking “a real end” to the conflict between Israel and Iran, arguing that outcome would be preferable to a ceasefire while also suggesting his patience for negotiations was wearing thin.

In the span of about eight hours Monday, President Donald Trump went from suggesting a nuclear deal with Iran remained “achievable” to urging Tehran’s 9.5 million residents to flee for their lives as he cut his visit to the international G7 summit short to return to Washington for urgent talks with his national security team.
