A cell phone video showing a White police officer in Jacksonville, Florida, striking a Black man in the face during a February traffic stop before officers dragged the driver from his car has sparked outrage online as conflicting accounts of the incident have emerged.

William Anthony McNeil Jr. questioned why he was pulled over and refused to get out of the car. An officer smashed his window and punched him in the face, video shows.

A Florida lawmaker and notable civil rights attorneys are calling out Jacksonville Sheriff's Office after a video showing an officer striking an unarmed Black man in the face during a traffic stop.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said in a statement that it had launched an internal probe of the video depicting William McNeil Jr.'s arrest and the circumstances surrounding it. The video was released on July 20 by McNeil's attorneys, Ben Crump and Harry Daniels.
