Pierre Poilievre’s Conservative Party saw pre-election polling momentum stall amid the trade war with the U.S. and Trump's "51st state" taunts.

Canada’s Pierre Poilievre seemed to be cruising toward victory in the next election. His Conservative Party was polling around 20 percentage points ahead of Justin Trudeau’s Liberals because of growing voter frustration around political scandals and rising housing costs.

In a social media post on the day of Canada's election, President Donald Trump suggested that Canadians should vote for him in order for Canada to become the 51st state.
