Quintanilla died on Nov. 7, 2024. After his death, the family decided to have his remains taken to his hometown in El Salvador for an open-casket funeral with extended family and old friends.

They planned a traditional funeral which included an open casket, which is El Salvadoran tradition. On the day of the funeral, his family opened the casket to find the body of a stranger inside.
