Oilers' Zach Hyman may not be playing in the Stanley Cup Finals due to an injury, but he took the time to thank all the fans for their support in a heartfelt manner.
Edmonton Oilers winger Zach Hyman is expected to miss the rest of the Stanley Cup playoffs due to surgery for an upper-body injury he suffered in Game 4 against the Dallas Stars, coach Kris Knoblauch announced.
“He’s a top player for us,” defenseman Brett Kulak said. “Tough to lose anybody, but especially he brings an element to the game and to our team that not too many guys around the league can bring to their team. It was tough to see him leave. Hopefully, he’s all right.”
Edmonton Oilers winger Zach Hyman, checked by the Dallas Stars' Mason Marchment on Tuesday, will have surgery and is expected out for the playoffs.
Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch said Wednesday that forward Zach Hyman requires surgery following the upper-body injury that knocked him out of Edmonton’s Game 4 win over the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference finals. He is not expected to be able to play for the remainder of the postseason.
Known as a relentless forechecker, Hyman was on track to break the NHL record for most hits in a single postseason. After being credited with two hits before exiting Tuesday’s game, Hyman was up to 111 – just 15 shy of then-Tampa Bay Lightning winger Blake Coleman’s mark of 126 in 2020.
