President Donald Trump is threatening the Commanders' NFL stadium deal if the team does not change its name back to the "Redskins," according to a recent post.
Trump has threatened to hold up a new stadium for the Washington Commanders unless they revert back to the Redskins name.
U.S. President Donald Trump threatened on Sunday to interfere with a deal to build a new football stadium in Washington, D.C., unless the local NFL team, now known as the Commanders, changes its name back to Redskins.
President Trump, in a social media post over the weekend, called on the Commanders to “immediately” change the team name back to the Redskins, and said he “may put a restriction” on the stadium deal if ownership does not comply.
President Trump called on the NFL’s Washington Commanders to change their name back to the Washington Redskins on Sunday and threatened to upend the team’s deal for a new stadium if they didn’t.
The president took to Truth Social today to state that he may block the team from moving forward on a new stadium plan.
