An attorney for Dana Stubblefield said the former San Francisco 49ers star could be released from custody this week after his 2020 rape conviction was reversed on appeal.

A California appeals court has overturned the rape conviction of former San Francisco 49ers and NFL Defensive Player of the Year Dana Stubblefield.

Dana Stubblefield was found guilty of rape back in 2020. The former San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman was convicted of forcible rape of a developmentally disabled woman while using a gun. The retired football player was sentenced to 15 years to life.
