A meteorite that is the largest known piece of Mars on Earth has sold for a hammer price of $4.3 million to an anonymous bidder at a Sotheby’s New York auction Wednesday.

A comedy auction to benefit The V Foundation for Cancer Research, honoring the late Norm Macdonald, includes items from Adam Sander, Judd Apatow and more.

The previous owner was director Joe Dante, who “had the honor of protecting this piece of cinematic history for decades.”

This year, the auction will include parcels of land throughout Lower Michigan and the Upper Peninsula in the following counties: Alger, Allegan, Barry, Genesee, Gogebic, Grand Traverse, Kent, Lake, Lapeer, Luce, Manistee, Marquette, Mecosta, Midland, Missaukee, Montmorency, Newaygo, Oceana, Ogemaw, Schoolcraft, Washtenaw and Wexford.

Data showed almost all guarantees for post-war and contemporary works at evening auctions were from third parties.

Highlights from the forthcoming auction include Houston’s casino-themed jacket, designed by Bob Mackie, featuring dice, card faces, and more, all crafted in Mackie’s idiosyncratic style. Another piece featured in the collection is the Marc Bouwer-designed gold gown and coordinated turban Houston wore for her 1994 performance in South Africa.
