Alf Clausen, the Emmy-winning composer who provided the music for “The Simpsons” for 27 years, has died at age 84.

He created the music for hundreds of episodes over 27 seasons, spanning jazz, rock, blues and musicals. He won two Emmys and was nominated for 28 more.

He composed nearly 600 scores for the show and conducted the 35-piece orchestra that played them in the studio.
