Dollar General announces plans to close nearly 100 stores
Dollar General is planning to close nearly 100 stores across the U.S. in the first quarter of this year. In addition to closing 96 Dollar General stores, the company will also shutter 45 of its pOpshelf stores. The company also plans to convert six pOpshelf stores into Dollar General locations.
Dollar General shoppers "have had to sacrifice, even on the necessities," CEO Todd Vasos said Thursday.
The retail company aims to convert value-seeking consumers into regulars, and expanding delivery is part of its approach.
