Public health officials in Los Angeles and Orange Counties are warning the public of a confirmed measles case that’s been detected in both regions. The person sickened with the disease is described as an infant who traveled to Los Angeles International Airport to return home to Orange County,

Before the pandemic, the rate of kindergarten students who received their measles, mumps, and rubella vaccination had reached just over 98% statewide, but dropped to 95.1% amid the pandemic.

The death was a 'school-aged child who was not vaccinated' and had been hospitalized, the Texas Department of State Health Services said in a statement.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., head of the Department of Health and Human Services, downplayed the seriousness of an ongoing measles outbreak in Texas, falsely claiming that people had been hospitalized “mainly for quarantine” and misleadingly stating that the situation is “not unusual.
