Trevor Story is hoping for a reunion. Story was teammates with Nolan Arenado from 2016 to 2020 while the two infielders played for the Colorado Rockies. Arenado was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in 2021; Story signed with the Boston Red Sox a year later.

The Boston Red Sox emerged as frontrunners to acquire St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Areando, but they would need to trade away Triston Casas.

According to MassLive, Nolan Arenado views the Boston Red Sox as a "preferred" destination if he's traded this winter.

As the 2025 season draws nearer, the trade market for St. Louis Cardinals star third baseman Nolan Arenado has reportedly dwindled to just one team.

Story, who played five seasons with Arenado in Colorado, thinks the third baseman has more to give than his numbers the last two years infer.

Trevor Story and Nolan Arenado were once teammates in Colorado, and Story would like nothing more than for the two to be reunited in Boston.

Arenado is under contract for three more seasons and will be a free agent after the 2027 campaign. So if the Red Sox want him, they would have to trade for him and give up assets (like prospects or a young MLB player). Bregman would only cost the Red Sox money because he’s a free agent.
