The accolades keep coming for Pat Surtain II. The Broncos star cornerback was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year by the Pro Football Writers of America on Wednesday. He is the first Denver player and fourth cornerback to win the award since it was instituted in 1992.

Broncos head coach Sean Payton, cornerback Pat Surtain II and rookie quarterback Bo Nix have been named finalists for NFL honors.

This could be the best predictor of Patrick Surtain II bringing home the A.P. Defensive Player of the Year award.

The Denver Broncos have three finalists for the NFL awards handed out by the Associated Press, including quarterback Bo Nix for Rookie of the Year, coach Sean Payton for Coach of the Year, and cornerback Pat Surtain for Defensive Player of the Year.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is officially one of the five finalists for the NFL’s MVP award given on Feb. 8. Burrow is a finalist along with Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff and Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley.

Burrow, who led the league in passing yards (4,918) and passing touchdowns (43) this season, was named an MVP finalist alongside Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff, and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson and Saquon Barkley are finalists for The Associated Press 2024 NFL Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year awards.

Two Wisconsin natives are among the finalists for NFL defensive player of the year. Also, each NFL team remaining has a UW alumnus on the roster.

Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker T.J. Watt was named a Defensive Player of the Year finalist. Watt, who was a longtime favorite to win the award but has now dropped in odds, had at least one vote go his way to earn his way onto the finalist panel.

On Thursday, the NFL announced finalists for all of the major end-of-the-year awards. The Pittsburgh Steelers were shut out of all the awards except for Defensive Player of the Year where outside linebacker T.

After winning the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award a year ago, Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett is once again a finalist. While the Browns went 3-14 in a rough 2024 campaign, Garrett continued to be one of their few bright spots.
