A Marine veteran who served in three wars was honored Friday during a graduation ceremony for approximately 600 Marines at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego.

There’s been a long line of tenacious English bulldogs and now Private Bruno, the newest mascot, is ready to recruit brave men and women and boost morale for the U.S. Marine Corps.

He assumed his position at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego in June 2023, according to his official Marine Corps biography, which has since been removed.

MCRD is hosting its 21st annual Boot Camp challenge that allows the public to participate in a three-mile obstacle course that is endured by USMC recruits.

MCRD San Diego is one of two basic training depots in the Marines. Generally all enlisted recruits from west of the Mississippi River will go to boot camp in San Diego.
