The warning was for Columbus County. "The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property. Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire.
A severe thunderstorm warning was released by the NWS Blacksburg VA on Friday at 5:11 p.m. in effect until 6:15 p.m. for Caswell and Rockingham counties.
With peak afternoon heating, linear storms are firing up and will progress to the east-northeast. Strong winds, some hail, and a low chance of a tornado are possible. Although mostly away from larger cities, numerous towns with dense forestry could see power outages with wind gusts pushing above 50 miles per hour at times.
