COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina State Election Commission said it has completed a significant update to its voter rolls, marking 168,000 voters as inactive as of July. In April, the state sent confirmation cards to 191,000 registered voters who had not participated in elections since 2020.
South Carolina held on to its ruby-red dominance following Election Day, led by now President-elect Donald Trump's win over Vice President Kamala Harris by 18 percentage points.
The big shock comes from how handily Scott beat his opponent. Wheeler ran unopposed in four of his five elections, but the one year he had a Republican opponent (2022), Wheeler won by about 20 points—half of Scott’s victory margin.
