Texas House Democratic lawmakers signaled on Thursday they are preparing to end their standoff over redistricting and return to the state.

Lawmakers will return when the legislature ends a special session and California releases its own redistricting plan, both of which are set to happen on Friday.

His move is in response to Republican efforts to pick up five seats in Texas. Newsom released a campaign ad on social media Thursday as Democrats kicked off a press conference. State lawmakers technically need to declare the special election and they plan to do so next week.
