NJ Transit's CEO acknowledged the impact on commuters but said the agency wants an outcome that is “fair and fiscally responsible.”

New Jersey Transit officials and the union representing its rail engineers are set to meet again Sunday to resume contract negotiations, an effort to reach an agreement and end a strike that’s halted train service for three days.

NJ Transit engineers are set to go on strike as of 12:01 a.m. Friday, the union says, bringing train service to a screeching halt. NJ Transit rail service will be fully shutdown, along with Metro-North's west of Hudson service. The strike is expected to inconvenience more than 300,000 daily commuters.
