OpenAI has removed a feature allowing ChatGPT conversations to be indexed by the Google search engine. The action comes following a growing number of complaints about user privacy. The company called it a “short-lived experiment.”

A simple checkbox previously let ChatGPT users unintentionally publish their chats to the internet. OpenAI has now disabled the feature.

After complaints, OpenAI's chief information security officer, Dane Stuckey, said the company is working to remove the chats from search engines.
