D.C. Attorney General Brian Schwalb (D) filed a lawsuit against President Donald Trump on Friday after the administration placed the head of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) over the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

Trump on Monday federalized the Washington, D.C., police department and ordered the deployment of National Guard troops in the capital city.

"This is an affront to the dignity and autonomy of the 700,000 Americans who call D.C. home,” District of Columbia AG Brian Schwalb says.
