When your phone goes into SOS mode, it can still make emergency calls. When you make an emergency call with your iPhone, it automatically calls the local emergency number and shares your location information with emergency services.

On Tuesday afternoon, thousands of T-Mobile users suddenly began to report outages with the phone service. According to outage detector site Downdetector, the peak of outages hit around 2:30 p.m. ET, when more than 19,000 users reported problems. The majority of reports indicated users did not have signal.
