Snow has been falling in the Cascades, which has been good news for skiers and a challenge for drivers. Now that winter is officially here, many people may be wondering what experts think is next regarding temperatures and precipitation.

The chance for rain remains across western Oregon and southwest Washington for much of the day on Saturday. The rain potential will increase during the overnight hours and lasts through the start of the day on Sunday. Rain accumulation could be near almost an inch in some locations by the end of the weekend.

Another round of rain arrives on Friday night as the front pushes in from the south. Widespread light rain will persist into the morning. Showers will be more scattered through the day with a brief dry break late Saturday night.

The weather outside on Christmas will, in fact, be frightful as storms roll into the region. Back-to-back storms beginning Tuesday night will bring rain and wind on Christmas on Wednesday, and more will occur into the end of the week for post-Christmas travel as well.
