President-elect Donald J. Trump has waffled on his preferences for how his party tackles his agenda, adding to the uncertainty for Republicans.

The GOP will attempt to pass one massive legislative package including tax cuts, border security and other priorities, putting lawmakers up against a high-stakes deadline.

The two Steves (Forbes and Moore) pressed again for the flat tax in a New Year’s Eve Wall Street Journal editorial. While their arguments are sound, the title said it all: “Trump’s Tax Cuts Were Good. A Flat Tax Would Be Better.” While the flat tax would be far better than current law, we can do better still.

Republicans are divided on a strategy to move the Trump administration’s agenda, and some want more input from President-elect Donald Trump, while others are fine to hash it out on their own.

Extending all of the 2017 tax law could add close to $5 trillion to the national debt. To offset the cost, Trump and Republicans are considering these policies.
