Newly promoted Leeds United sign midfielder Sean Longstaff from Newcastle in a deal worth £12m plus potential add-ons.
The midfielder rose through the ranks at St James' Park, joining the club in 2006 and going on to make over 200 first-team appearances
Leeds United have added Sean Longstaff to their ranks ahead of the Premier League's return next month. The 27-year-old became the Whites' fifth signing of the summer on Friday night as he sealed a move to Elland Road in a deal worth an initial £12 million.
Longstaff reached out to his former Newcastle teammate Karl Darlow as he closed in on his Leeds move, and felt wanted by the Premier League newcomers, who are trying to build a squad to survive in the top flight. Longstaff said: “I remember obviously playing here [Elland Road] as a little kid, nine, 10 years old. It is funny where life takes you.
