KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City Royals made their first two selections in the 2025 MLB Draft on Sunday evening, July 13. The Royals select second baseman and outfielder Sean Gamble from IMG Academy with the 23rd overall pick and Wesleyan Christian third baseman Josh Hammond with the 28th pick.

The Kansas City Royals selected second baseman Sean Gamble with the 23rd overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft. Gamble starred at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. However, he has Midwestern roots — as a Des Moines, Iowa native — and a lot of projectable skills.
