By Frank Pingue (Reuters) -Two Native American groups on Monday condemned U.S. President Donald Trump's threat to block a new football stadium in Washington, D.C., unless the local NFL team restores its old and controversial Redskins name.

President Donald Trump wants Washington's football franchise and Cleveland's baseball team to revert to their former names.

Critics of Native American–themed team names have long employed a similar argument—that they belonged to a different time, one that was less sensitive and respectful to nonwhite cultures.
