The emotional press tour for Wicked continues on to awards season as the film hits its digital release. And listen, at this point complaining about Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo’s displays of sisterhood is tired from anyone who hasn’t shot two films back to back and sung the musical’s iconic songs live.

Grande’s new interview comes over a month after the first Wicked hit theaters Nov. 22, 2024, quickly becoming the top-grossing movie adaptation of a Broadway musical ever. Its sequel, Wicked: For Good, will arrive almost exactly a year later in the fall of 2025.

Other notable deleted scenes include Glinda trying to teach her roommate Toss Toss, a moment between Elphaba and Fiyero in the forest with the cub, as well as Elphaba confronting Boq (Ethan Slater) about his true feelings for her sister Nessa Rose (Marissa Bode).

Sure to be the most “Popular” parade newcomer, the high-flying effort fittingly entitled “Defying Gravity” depicts Glinda (Ariana Grande) and her bubbles, a mid-flight Elphaba (a better likeness of Cynthia Erivo), a shimmering Emerald City, the Yellow Brick Road and fields of tulips, both real and sculpted.
