As thousands of protesters demonstrating against President’s Trump mass deportation and immigration policies clogged the streets and 101 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles Sunday, smaller protests erupted in several cities across Southern California and the United States.

Leaders in one Southern California city fed up with the state’s immigration policies have voted to become a “non-sanctuary” city and ignore the state’s sanctuary laws.

Marchers have blocked all lanes of US 101, causing traffic to back up in both directions and on downtown surface streets.

A massive rally protesting President Donald Trump’s mass deportations and immigration policies blocked traffic on the Hollywood (101) Freeway in downtown Los Angeles Sunday. The protesters gathered Sunday morning on Olvera Street for what the Los Angeles Police Department called a non-permitted demonstration.

Since his inauguration on Jan. 20, Trump has followed through on his campaign promise to dramatically boost deportation of illegal immigrants, with ICE carrying out raids in major cities including Los Angeles and San Diego.
