NBC Nightly News anchor and managing editor, Lester Holt, has stepped down from the long-running program after 10 years. Newsweek reached out to Holt's representative via email for comment. Holt was named anchor of NBC Nightly News in June 2015.

Lester Holt stepped down from his longtime role on Friday, meaning there'll be a new anchor leading "NBC Nightly News."

NBC national correspondent Tom Llamas will take over as anchor of "NBC Nightly News" following Holt’s departure. Llamas, who has been in the journalism industry for over 25 years, will continue to host his daily primetime streaming program "Top Story with Tom Llamas" on NBC News NOW while stepping into the "Nightly News" role.
