This isn't like an american park. It's more "protected land". There's no gates or borders. It's like entering a state or city limits parts are curated but others are just land.
Does the road around the Snaefellsjokull pennisula require 4WD? Will be driving the first week in September. Traveling from Budir off Ring Road to Olasvik.

Normal small car is perfect .We drove that route just a few weeks ago.You will not however be able to drive up the gravel road to the glacier itself unless you risk the insurance
